Information graphics or infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system's ability to see patterns and trends. Piktochart Free and no credit card is needed to start an account. Have students make their own accounts and start creating infographics, posters, reports and presentations using templates provided. Students can turn in their infographics several ways. On the web they can publish them to their e_portfolios. Otherwise, they can print, but that can be challenging depending on the size. They can turn them in electronically as a .jpg or .png file. Presentations that aren't Prezi or PowerPoint
HaikuDeck "Presentations that inspire" is the slogan at Haiku Deck. Students will find using Haiku Deck "simple, beautiful and fun", which also describes the resulting presentations. This software can be used as a mobile app and on a PC at haikudeck.com.

Click here to download this audio recording and editing software. It is free and comes with several bells and whistles. Great software for having students make podcasts or audio to add to video.

Glogster Interactive multimedia posters. Teachers can go here to see which license is best for you and your students.
WeVideo The free version limits students to five minute videos OR 5GB of space. However, it appears to be a nice video software program.
Animoto A personal favorite. This software can be used to create beautiful, moving presentations that animate your images and video clips depending on the music you choose. Teachers can get free accounts for up to 50 students. Click here to set up your FREE educator account.
Screencastomatic With screen capturing software, students can create video tutorials, which can be used to demonstrate any concept using a computer. Fifteen minute videos can be produced for free. Click here to start the process now.
YouTube Video Editor Since Chardon High is a Google school and every student has a Google account, you also have an account/channel on YouTube, which can be used to edit video. Once students are logged into Google, when you go to YouTube you will be logged in there as well.
PowToons Students should check out this software for new and inventive ways to present their class projects. This is easy cartoon animation to which students add narration and music. PowToons has additional features making it one of the most versatile software applications for multi-media. As most things, the free account is limited, but teachers can apply for an educators' account here.
